FAQ

Frequently asked questions

1How do I know if metal 3D printing is a proper choice for my application?

We have a plan to help you explore the decision points involved in selecting the right technology in more detail. In the meantime, you can schedule a free consultation session with us to discuss your specific application and requirements.

2How can I order a part to be printed?

Please send us your inquiry via email, including the following:

  • Your 3D CAD file in STP or STL format
  • A drawing of the part with final dimensions and tolerances
  • Material specifications
  • Any other relevant information related to the part

This will help us process your request efficiently.

3Do you provide standard test results along with the print orders?

We follow a standard procedure where, for every batch of prints, we produce standard tensile test and density coupons and document the results. If you require any additional tests, please specify them when submitting your order.

4What materials do you currently print?

We offer 3D printing services for a wide range of materials, as detailed in the 'Materials and Properties' section. Lead times may vary depending on powder availability, order volume, and other factors. Please contact us for further assistance.

5What surface finish should I expect from the printed samples?

As-built 3D-printed parts typically have a surface roughness of approximately 8 to 12 µm, depending on the process parameters and geometry. Post-processing techniques such as sandblasting, shot blasting, mechanical polishing, or electrochemical polishing can significantly enhance the surface finish, achieving results up to a mirror-like quality.

Support Structures

This image shows a typical built platform of the SLM process. The support structure requires ample time and proper tooling to be removed efficiently. However, the designer can minimise the amount of support by considering some tricks and tips.
In addition, support-free technology from Eplus3D can mitigate much of limitations of the process where access for removing the support is limited.

Some design tips and feasible feature sizes are shown in this table.
